Sample details Pages: 3 Words: 912 Downloads: 7 Date added: 2019/03/20 Category Law Essay Level High school Topics: Gun Control Essay Second Amendment Essay Did you like this example? In the United States Constitution, our second amendment stated that A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Regarding this paper, I will be speaking out about gun control and the second amendment and how society can further enforce gun control while abiding by the constitution to remain a free state. Many people believe in the right to practice The United States second amendment by purchasing a gun; to which make them an active gun owner. However, not all active gun owners are choosing to practice this right safely and, in the end, whether accidental or intentional; the people of our nation are paying for it with their lives. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "The Debate on Gun Control and the Second Amendment" essay for you Create order There is a better, safer and smarter way to ensure the nation is free to the constitutions belief while ensuring the protection of lives to our people. Personally, I support the United States to enforce gun control, Yes, its our right in the constitutions to bear arms, but by adding the gun control laws and making more restrictions on who can own a gun is still giving everyone the rights. But if the citizens violate laws by being unlawful with their guns, the government should have the authority to take their rights and their guns away, because violate the laws its a personal decision, if they choose to do so, they have the knowledge and have to suffer the consequences by having their rights taken away and possibly owning a gun in the future. From a source called Gun Control by Opposing Viewpoint Online, stated, The executive orders expanded background checks to cover firearms sold at gun shows and online; required states to provide the federal government with more information on people disqualified from purchasing guns; hired more federal agents to process the background checks. By adding the background checks for citizens to obtai n a gun license which allows them to purchase a gun, we know as a nation, who we are allowing to own guns. However, a gun license is different from concealed handgun licenses, which you must go to class and pass another series of background checks and tests. However, there will also be a huge impact on implement gun control laws and try to enforce a gun license. According to Second Amendment by American Law Yearbook 2016, Gun rights groups, businesses, and individual gun owners filed lawsuits in Connecticut and New York federal district courts, challenging the laws. They argued that the laws violated their Second Amendment rights and that some of the provisions were unconstitutionally vague. The New York district court agreed that the New York law burdened the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, but it did not violate the Second Amendment. Many citizens might against this idea of Gun licenses because they think adding a requirement is unnecessary or is preventing their constitutional right to own a gun, but its not, by adding this gun control/gun licenses, it will make a better and safer environment for everyone even for the gun owners, to know their fellow gun owners are law-abiding citizens, By forcing people to obtain a gun license , there will be less school shooting and fewer people will have to suffer by their lives taken away by unlawful gun owners. During his presidency, President Barack Obama proposed a number of measures aimed at curbing gun violence and illegal purchases following the 2013 Sandy Hook shooting. His efforts focused on improving background checks, banning private purchases of assault weapons, strengthening school safety procedures, and increasing Americans access to mental health programs. The Senate failed to pass any of the gun control measures Obama proposed. Obamas plan also included twenty-three executive actions that did not require Congresss approval, however. These executive actions included making improvements to the gun sales background check system, directing funds towards research into gun violence, and maximizing law enforcement efforts to help prevent and prosecute gun crime. That was a source from Right to Bear Arms by Opposing Viewpoints Online Collection. Just like Obama was trying to oppose the new gun control law, there can be many different improvements we can add on. For example, for a pers on that wants to be a gun owner to obtain the gun license, you must be a citizens of the United States, have to be at the age of 21 or older to buy any type of firearms, it doesnt matter if its rifles or handguns, and have to be mentally healthy and not the least, the person has to pass a background check that shows any type of criminal records that related to robbery or violence. By issuing those new laws, it might decrease the crime rates and help the society to be a safer place. Work Cited: Source Citation (MLA 8th Edition) Right to Bear Arms. Essay on Edgar Atheling - 1654 Words

History is but a series of stories, opinions, and biases that give the world today a glimpse through the window of the past. As it is such, that window is often smudged and smeared because of the many contradicting, differing facets that one moment in history can possess; henceforth figures and details become obscured and lost, thereby creating the many great and fascinating gaps in history that haunt the minds of today’s historians. This paper is an attempt to provide evidence to fill such a gap—the lost story of Edgar Atheling, great half-nephew of King Edward the Confessor of England; also to provide an answer to the puzzling question of why Edgar was never killed by King William I (William the Conqueror, also Duke of Normandy). The†¦show more content†¦However, Edward did something very odd—he promised the crown to William, Duke of Normandy—a cousin through Edward’s mother, Emma. This perplexingly odd promise was made even stranger whe n, according to the Bayeux Tapestry, Harold was shipwrecked off the coast of Normandy and brought to stay at the court of William. There he supposedly swore an unbreakable oath, giving William his loyalty and support in his path to the crown. He returned to England. Yet when the king died, his dying words seemed to be appointing Harold â€Å"protector† of England, which was interpreted as â€Å"king†. So Harold was named the king, breaking his supposed promise to William. Furious, William invaded England. Freshly crowned, Harold was not only dealing with this Norman threat, but also an invading Norwegian Viking army, led by Harald Hardrada, who, like William, also believed he had a claim to the throne. Harold easily defeated Harald’s forces at the Battle of Stamford Bridge (near York), but then was forced to drive his tired, bedraggled army to Hastings to confront the invading Norman troops. There, at the famed Battle of Hastings, William became William the Conq ueror, decisively defeating the English, killing Harold, and winning the crown. These clouds of intrigue block the sunlight from another, even deeper buried face in the year

Brand Placement Free Essays

Businesses strategically place their brands and products in movies or in TV series to subtly get consumers to notice their brands, this Is called brand placement. Two products which I have noticed In movies are Apple Imams In the Twilight movie Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011) and Manual Blank shoes in the Sex and the City Movie (2008). These were both big blockbuster hits which many people viewed and obsessed over. We will write a custom essay sample on Brand Placement or any similar topic only for you Order Now They both star very famous celebrities who play desirable characters. In the movies both the brands are clearly shown with the characters so the viewer ill relate who the character is with the brand to give the brand symbolism (Levy, 1959). In Sex and the City we first see the Manual Blank heels when the mall character Carrie Bradshaw Is shown her new wardrobe which will soon be filled with her clothes that are envied by viewers. The scene is romantic and everything is perfect in Carrie’s world which suggests that the consumer would be in a similar situation if they had theses shoes. The label on the box is clearly shown as Carrie carefully puts her prized possession on the shelf. The shoes appear at the end of the vie during a special scene where Carrie Is being proposed to, the heel is used to close the deal of the proposal. This once again Incorporates the shoe with happiness and romance. Sex and the city has been a popular TV series (1998 – 2004) so there was a huge hype when the movie was released. Carrie Bradshaw is a well known character for her glamorous life; Carrie is an icon for fashion and high class. We straight away draw a connection with any brand associated with Carrie Bradshaw to being an ultimate luxury brand, and as a viewer I desire to own the brands shown in the movie to make myself appear more glamorous. The Sex and the City’s target audience are females over 16 years. It has an emphasis on relationships and high fashion. I aspire to be Like Carrie and her friends as they were Independent and bring out ideas of their own about sex and women being in control. The Manual Blank shoes are targeted to me and women with similar interests in fashion and their appearance. The shoes are a very high priced item but the brand makes me think that I would be superior to others if I own this luxury good. By owning Manual Blank shoes I would feel a part of the top label brand community which they associate Carrie with (Ganglier, 2012). I believe that If I owned them I would appear more glamorous and they would give me class and style. These shoes would affect self image positively for me (Williston, 2012). This is because I would feel more important and confident with these shoes on. Mascots Hierarchy of Needs suggests that â€Å"people are motivated to fulfill their basic needs, before moving on to other, more advanced needs† (Cherry, n. D. Para. 1). The needs are shown on a pyramid starting with physiological needs then safety needs, social needs, self-esteem needs and finishing with self-actualization (Cherry). Manual Blank shoes fall Into the self- esteem group as they can give the owner confidence and status (MBA Online Programmer, n. ). The Culled family in Twilight are depicted as perfection. They are beautiful, rich, and intelligent and are identified as superior to everyone else. The brand Apple appears in Breaking Dawn during a serious scene in the movie where the Culled family are desperately researching to find a life line. As the computer is reliable and a good source of research as an intellectual family such as the Culler’s use them. Breaking Dawn was the t hird top grossing movie of 2011 which shows the age audience that this movie reached out to (Midi. Mom, Inc. N. D). The Apple symbol glows on the screen with the family in the background to emphasis that this is a brand that a family as perfect as the Culler’s would use. The Twilight series is targeted to teenage girls and women who fantasize over the desirable men in the movie (Denial, 2011). The Twilight Saga has been a huge hit, as at 13/04/12 its Faceable page has 31 ,951 , 1 55 likes with many of these fans being obsessed over the characters and actors in the movie. With other 31 million fans, Apple is getting their rand out to a huge audience who are likely to be influenced by what the characters are associated with. Twilight fans will believe that by associating themselves with the brands that are used in the Twilight Saga movies they will be more alike the characters. I am a fan of the brand Apple; I personally own an Apple pod and an Imax. My pod is something I could not imagine functioning without as it holds many songs as well as having other functions such as the internet, email and camera. I personally spend a lot of time on my Imax both for social reasons communicating with people and to get university work completed. These Apple products are essential for me as I could not imagine my daily life without them. It is part of my culture to be up to date on the latest technology, and to be able to communicate indirectly through the internet with my peers (Williston). It is a norm within my culture to own Apple products, the people around me and I use Apple products daily (Williston). By having Apple associated with famous actors such as Robert Patterson and Kristin Stewart, the brands are a part of these actors indirect reference group as the actors are people you aspire to be like (Williston). These groups give us â€Å"a point of reference in deciding what consumption behavior to undertake† (Williston, 2012. Group Influence Social Norms Lecture). Indirect reference groups can have a different amount of influence on consumers depending on many factors including how attractive the reference group is, whether the product is being used publicly and the consumer’s self-esteem (Williston). Apple is already a very well known brand and as soon as the logo came into view on the screen the viewers would have straight away recognized it and began to make connections with he brand and the Robert Patterson or Culled family reference group. Brand equity is important when trying to make your brand familiar with consumers it is â€Å"The value premium that a company realizes from a product with a recognizable name as compared to its generic equivalent† (Investigated, n. . Para. L). Brand equity is about the name and symbol of the brand, it includes brand loyalty, name awareness, perceived quality, brand associations and other proprietary and brand assets (Ganglier). With Apple and Manual Blank appearing in these well known and popular movies they are gaining a lot of brand awareness which is important as when consumers are choosing between options they will pick the brand they are most familiar with. Viewers of Sex and the City associate Carrie with high quality goods so by seeing Carrie with her Manual Blank shoes consumers will automatically relate the Manual Blank to top quality which will add value to the brand. Manual Blank and Apple have been successful at getting their brands out Breaking Dawn Part One. The characters and actors are dollied by many so a lot of consumers are likely to be influenced to purchase these products. By owning the products shown in the movies consumers will be able to associate themselves with the brand communities and reference groups. How to cite Brand Placement, Papers

American Accounting Association Model-Free-Samples for Students

Questions: 1.Using the American Accounting Association (AAA) Ethical decision model explain the Ethical Issues involved here and recommend a course of action for Jacqui. 2.With reference to relevant case law, prepare a report for the Managing Partners of MYH on the strength of any negligence case that Oasis might bring against MYH. Answers: 1.American Accounting Association (AAA) model The American Accounting Association (AAA) model established from the report for AAA that was written by Rockness and Langender during 1990. Under the report, it was suggested by them the seven-step procedure for the purpose of decision making, that takes into consideration the ethical issues (Abernathy et al., 2015). The AAA model starts with Step 1 through establishment of the cases facts. This step indicates when the process of making the decision initiates and there is no uncertainty exists regarding what is to be taken under consideration. Step 2 identifies ethical issues of the case. This step includes the identification of the cases facts and find out the ethical issues under stake (Kothari, Mizik Roychowdhury, 2015). The 3rd step involves recognition of values, principles and norms of the case and this further involves establishing the decision in the ethical, social and in few cases, within the context of professional behaviour. In this context, the professional code of the ethics or social expectation of profession is considered as the values, principles and norms. Under the 4th step all the alternative course of the action is recognized. This includes defining each alternative without taking into consideration the values, principles and norms under step 3 with regard to assure the fact that each of the outcome is taken into consideration irrespective of the fact that the outcome may or may not be appropriate (Howard et al., 2016). Next, under step 5 the values, principles and norms those were identified under step 3 are covered within the identified option under step 4. After completing these, it shall be possible to identify which option fits under the norms and which options are not. Under step 6, the significance of the results is taken into consideration. Finally, under step 7, the decision is made taking into consideration all the relevant facts. Facts of the given case The facts of the case was that the partner of the audit division under MYH, Jacqui Leak found that one of their client Morgan Fertilisers recently changed their waste management contractor and entered into the 3 years contracts with Dumparound Ltd. it was found by Mr. Jacqui that Dumparound is investigated and charged for exceeding the toxic waste level by local council for one of their sites (Dalton, Davis Viator, 2015). Ethical issues of the case The ethical issues with regard to the case is that whether the auditor shall look into the fact that the client is a good corporate citizen or not and whether the client is managing its business ethically or not. Stakeholders list that will be affected Local community if the waste management is not carried out properly then the biggest impact will b eon the local community where the business is being carried out as they have to suffer the adverse impact of improper waste management Investors investors will be affected as the sustainability and environmental lookout will not be fulfilled and therefore, people will have bad impression regarding the company, which in turn will affect the investors Customers the customers will have a feeling in their mind regarding improper conduct of the companys if it does not conform with the environmental issue management requirement (No et al., 2017). Major values, rules and principles The values, principles and norms are considered to have a big impact on the integrity of the financial statement of the company. As per the APES 110, the auditors are entrusted with the task of conforming that the working environment of the client has relevant safeguards and will be varied on the basis of the circumstance. The safeguards for the circumstance of the working environment include firm-wide safeguards well as the engagement-specific safeguard. It is found that the company is lacking the safeguard with respect to both the aspects. Alternative course of the action Option 1 is to further investigate the matter and question the management regarding the justification behind entering the contract with Dumparound. Option 2 is to just ignore the fact and give their opinion accordingly. Values and alternative With regard to maintain the integrity and objectivity of the auditor, the best option will be further investigate the matter and question the management regarding the justification behind entering the contract with Dumparound. This decision will help to maintain the independence, integrity and objectivity of the auditor. Alternatives access of the consequences If the option 1 is chosen, then it will help to maintain the independence, integrity and objectivity of the auditor. The auditor shall further investigate the matter and question the management regarding the justification behind entering the contract with Dumparound If option 2 is chosen, though the auditor will not be liable as the auditors job is not to find the fact that whether te client is carrying out its business ethically or not. However, to maintain the long-term sustainability of the company, this matter is required to be taken into consideration. Making the final decision The ethical decision is option 1. The auditor to maintain their integrity shall investigate the matter. 2.Report to MYHs managing partner The main issue with regard to the inventory valuation is to recognize the amount that is to be carried out as the value of the inventory in the balance sheet. As per the accounting standard, the inventories must be measured at the lower value out of the cost and realisable value (Onyekwelu Ugwuanyi, 2014). Further, the inventory which has become obsolete or which is damaged shall not be considered under the balance sheet of the company. If the value of inventory is overstated, it will have an impact on the various items of balance sheet as well as the income statement of the company. For instance, the shareholders equity, net income and retained earnings of the company will also show higher amount. Further, as the closing inventory of one period will be shown as the opening inventory of next period, the COGS of that period will also be shown at higher amount, which in turn, will reduce the gross profit as well as net profit of the company (Gray Ehoff Jr, 2014). In the given case study, it is recognized that Morgan Fertilizers are involved in the act of overstating their inventory in the balance sheet. Knowing the fact, the audit firm MYH did not raise any issue and stated their opinion on the financial statement of the company without taking into consideration the fact (Onoja Abdullahi, 2015). Moreover, based on the audited report of the company, Oasis Ltd took over Morgan. However, when they found the fact that inventory were overstated, they charged the auditor for being negligent. It was found that out of the total inventories in the balance sheet of the company, 50% of the inventories were already became obsolete and rest were valued at 35% more that the cost. Further, one major issue was that even if MYH valued the inventory correctly, they finally accepted the managements valuation of the inventory (Haribhai-Pitamber Dhurup, 2014). Through the confirmation of the inventory count is the managements duty and they are responsible for planning the strategies, through which the inventories will be verified, the auditor must look into the matter of internal control system of the company and strategies prepared by the management to minimize the gap in internal control. Further, the auditor shall look into these matters as they are obliged to apply the professional judgement and approaches while carrying out the audit (Gu, 2013). Further, the auditor will not be liable to the third parties for his act and is only liable to the client. Nevertheless, if the third party is able to prove the following mentioned points, then the third party can make the auditor liable Third party has taken decision on the basis of the audited statement of the company Any negligence done on the part of the employee of the auditor Intentionally the financial statement were designed to mislead the third party The annual statement was not prepared with true and fair view. Errors or misappropriation were there in the statement preparation (Feng, McVay Skaife, 2014). Case law In case study of Esanda Finance Corporation Ltd v Peat Marwick Hungerfords (1997), the applicat, Esanda Finance Corporation, loaned cash to the association in view of the review report issued by Peat Marwick Hungerfords. In any case, after borrower default on the instalment, Esanda charged to the auditors on account of the fact that they have issued loan in light of the issued audit report by the auditor that broke the mandatory accounting standard. In any case, the High court of Australia expelled the case saying that the loan specialist as opposed to depending on the auditors report could complete the examination all alone. Further, it was expressed by the court that the evaluators are not in charge of the obligation of duty to third parties. With reference to the above case study, it can be commented that as MYH instead of verifying the inventory correctly, they accepted the value given by the management, which in turn will affect the integrity, objectivity, honesty and independence of the auditor. Here, Oasis Ltd. can establish the fact and bring negligence charge against MYH with regard to the fact that they have taken decision based on the audited financial report of Morgan Fertilizers. However, it is the courts decision whether they will charge the audit firm MYH for negligence or dismiss the case like Esanda Finance Corporation Ltd v Peat Marwick Hungerfords (1997) Reference Abernathy, J., Hackenbrack, K. Free Essays on Mencius Free Essays on Mencius The ideas and theories that both Mencius and Hzun Tzu held entailed to whether or not man’s nature was good or evil. Mencius claimed that human nature was naturally good. Man was born innocent and naà ¯ve and it was only through time, war and experience that man became corrupt. However, Hzun Tzu felt that human nature from birth was stained with corruption and full of evil and selfishness. Mencius and Hzun Tzu’s attitudes towards human nature were equally debatable and controversial. These two great philosophers equally contributed to Confucianism and were both prominent founders of the Confucian belief. Mencius’ view on man and his nature were moralistic whereas Hzun Tzu’s view encompassed a more legalistic world (Liu, 2002). Hzun Tzu approached man through an authoritative manner where a ruling governor would discipline the people. Mencius felt it necessary to leave decisions as well as choices to the people; he felt whatever morals and value s they have learned would aid in the process of proper decision-making. Each philosopher has their own distinct belief as to the thought of human nature those of Mencius and Hzun Tzu although somewhat concrete in his own opinion and seemingly believable oppose and contradict one another. Hzun-Tzu believed that man was by nature evil. Unlike Mencius, he had little faith in humanity and did not feel that man could be depended on whereas Mencius felt that good is found in humanity and man’s mind is ultimately good (Shun, 2000). Hzun Tzu felt that man was born evil and it would only be through education and study that a mind at ease could emerge. Mencius had an extremely contrasting theory; he felt that the mind was innocent and that only man could destroy what was pure. The ideals of Hzun Tzu oppose the doctrines thought and taught by the Confucius faith. Confucian believers are to believe that man is good and by no means evil or bad. How Hooliganism Is Seen in the Contemporary World Coursework

How Hooliganism Is Seen in the Contemporary World - Coursework Example It is evidently clear from the discussion that to give a reason for some of the key attributes of hooliganism, a division between impulsive, relatively secluded confrontations of spectator violence and the conduct of socially organized fan groups which participate in aggressive violent behavior should be drawn. This division is historically apparent through a change from a pattern in which assaults on football match officials and opponent players preponderated over assaults on opponent fans, to a practice in which fights against fans and the police became the dominant form of watcher muddled state. Pearson defines hooliganism as a violent, raucous and disparaging behavior. Hooliganism has closely been associated with sports activities due to violence among the spectators. There are numerous theories on the history and origin of hooliganism. In reference to the Oxford dictionary, hooliganism originated in the late years of the 19th century from the surname of an illusory unruly Irish family, Hooligan, in a musical-hall song of the 1890’s. Hooliganism has been used since the late 19th century. It described a street bunch of criminals in London in the 1890’s, just about the same time Manchester street mob were achieving disrepute. Exact first usage of the term hooliganism and how it came to be used in the present meaning is not well known. The Daily News reported a case at Southwark Police Court in London where it indicated that Clarke, 19 years old, arraigned for the attack on police was the ringleader of â€Å"Hooligan Boys†, a gang of youth. This gang had graced with their presence a music hall and caused disturbances which led to the police being called. Later the next month, two young men were brought before a court in London for unruly behavior.

Basic personality of an individual

Basic personality of an individual Its very important for an individual to know about his personality. â€Å"Personality has been defined as an individuals characteristic patterns of thought, emotion, and behaviour, together with the psychological mechanismshidden or notbehind those patterns†. No two persons can be the same they differ at any point even the twins possess different personality behaviour. Over period of research analysis it was found out that the personality is determined by the Heredity, Environment and Situation of the individual. (Robbins Judge, 2009) I have never thought of what my personality is, so when i was asked to write an essay on what my personality was it was just a great task for me to writing about my personality. Later with the help of Prentice Halls Self Assessment Library i came to know a little about my personality. At first it seemed to be a normal one for me to attend the test but later after seeing the results had me to take the test seriously and was involved in the test to find my personality. So with the help of this Self Assessment test, this essay will be discussing my personality behaviour and the thing that motivate me in the job environment. My basic personality: Emotional stability, Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness and openness to experience. These are called as Big Five models of personality (Robbins Judge,2009).Emotions are the intense feelings that are directed at someone are something. I am always enthusiastic person but becoming a calm person by and by. I always lose my calmness easily but by doing some personality development classes I have started being a calm person and enthusiastic person. When a work is assigned to me and if it is capable of me to work i do it with enthusiasm and finish it. I am a person who thinks that the responsibility is achieved and cannot be taken. It is us who are responsible for ones future and about dependability to say I depend on many sources like my friends, elders during some actions. As I used to like in the residential campus from my schooling so in the starting days i used to be an introvert person being alone and used to talk to only few persons but by and by as the time passes I changed myself into an extrovert person and started getting together with other persons and like the company of others. I am also not an openness person because comfortableness is found in the ones which are familiar to me rather than the ones that are not familiar to me. Jungian 16-Type Personality: This test tells that my score result is ENTP which means i am an innovative, individualistic, versatile and entrepreneurial. I have an idea of establishing an sole business for profits and also like to face risks and take challenges it was easy forme to adopt to the surrounding and I am an person who does not like to be independent and like to be a fellow person in a group rather than a some person in a group. Am I a Type-A? : In this personality test i achieved A+ personality type. I believe that it reflects only some of my qualities like that aggressive, moving, walking, eating rapidly and the impatient quality and job satisfaction in routine and really on speed. As of doing work i dont like to do both things at a time but rather like concentrating on each thing and like to work out in groups I dont like to wok on long term results but rather like to work on fast yielding results.. Ambiguity: Ambiguity refers to the term doubtfulness or uncertainty. This can be interacted as the uncertainty in the behaviour of the person seen at different situations. (Ritov and Droary, 1996) I do agree with the test partially as it reflects my personality because i tend to be more comfortable in front of the known people rather than the ones whom i dont know. I like the things going in the same way rather than changing immediately. But this one is worked out to be only outside the organization but within the organization the result reflects my personality. So for me the result reflects my personality in the work place or an organization because I like to work in a group if i am uncertain of what i am i cant be friendly to the other people. So by this I cant say that i can handle ambiguity depending on the circumstances around me. Creativity: Creativity is one of the finest ability to survive in the present world. â€Å"Roger von Oech Creative thinking involves imagining familiar things in a new light, digging below the surface to find previously undetected patterns, and finding connections among unrelated phenomena.†Ã‚   I am not an creative person but was good at studies and score good percentage but the creative ability is very less in me .During my group presentation I could find the things that are available only but could not come up with anything new which my fellow mates could come up with on a particular idea. Hence i can judge to myself that i am low at creative thinking Being creative is seeing the same thing as everybody else but thinking of something different All the five assessments test discussed above are about my personality now we will discuss about the things that motivate me and there insights. The first test is about what Motivates Me? Motivation means â€Å"The process that accounts for an individuals intensity, direction, and persistence of effort toward attaining a goal†. (Robbins Judge, 2009: 175).The key elements in motivation are Intensity, Direction, Persistence. For the test the analysis was made on the Growth, relatedness and Existence needs. I prefer to be given an loyal pay for the work done that was done me rather than adjusting with the unbalanced pay and if you are paid according to the work this would motivate you and make you to work hard .It was during my job as a marketing sales executive where my boss called everyone up and said he would be giving an bonus payment for the ones who makes more sales for every three months, this announce by the boss has made everyone to work hard and it helped everyone on both sides. Dominant Needs: The dominant test was carried out on four social needs Achievement, Affiliation, Autonomy, Power. I agree with the test result because i am so much focused to excel in my studies during my under graduation time because of my failure in a unit ,so during the next exam I thought to improve myself and perform better than the past result and achieved it and the similar one is being following in my life like doing the things with comparing the past results. Even the companies take the past result into consideration and plan the present strategy. The other social needs are still satisfactory for me. On the test result of what i value most? It Is a very good test question for me because it reflects most of my ideas in doing or choosing an job at an organization. As of the result shows my ideas of an ideal job whether it is a good pay, prestigious title, vacation time, security in job, recognition, interesting work, plesent working conditions friendly co-workers but i scored quite low in the flexible schedule which says that i like to work in an designed schedule rather than frequent changes. The next test is Whats my view on the nature of people? This test result was based on the Douglas McGregors Theory X and Theory Y. It is said by the Douglas McGregors that the person with Theory X possess to be lazy, disinterest in working while the Theory Y is quite contradictory to Theory X. Persons with Theory Y tend to work interestingly and are very responsible in their work.Based on the scores of the result the personality of a person is divided evenly. According to the assessment test result I am flexible in the selection of my senses. An example for this can be during the group formation of a particular unit. Each and everyone are new for me and I have no idea of their knowledge, personality and behaviour. Few of them looked to be smart , not active, lazy and thought I had fallen in an unexpected group and have decided to try my luck in the group but as the timed passed by the group was more friendly and everyone are quite different from what I judged. The next test is on the course performance goals? The test is basically trying to test our reasons to study and whether it is an goal oriented study course work or not. I have come to Australia from India for doing my Post graduation in Telecom and Business Management. As I want to explore my knowledge globally and three would be no sense if I have come here without any goal and waste my money. I have done my Under graduation in India and as have a goal of establishing an business and thought to establish that business in Australia. So thought to do my post Graduation in Australia which help me in two things like getting to know the Australian culture and will also be obtaining a study degree. The next question is about how confident am i in my Abilities to succeed? Without self confidence and hard work achieving goals is not easy. Robbins and Judge (2009) states that self-efficacy refers to an individuals belief that he or she is capable of performing a task .An example for this can be the recent job which i had got in an software company .My role is to call the customers and remind them to make their outstanding balances, at first when i started making calls i was so much shocked by the responses of the customers and as it a new challenge for me to compete i thought to withdrew from the job by the response of the customers but the team leader helped me in rising my confidence and after that the job was not as it is before . The next test is about my Attitude toward Achievement: this test helps in understanding the reaction of the individual on the success of the others. The scores tell me that i favour very less seeing the successful people fall. An example for this can be the present fall of an Indian originated MNC company SATYAM. The chairman of the company had worked hard to build-up the company but he had been cheating the company share holders from past few years showing fake annual results of the company. I do also like to see the successful people being rewarded. An example for this can be the Issue of Oscar award to the Indian Musician A.R.Rahman. I like to get paid for what i do and expect to be given the same importance as other who do the same work as I do. In a short and simple to say i expect the outcomes to be the same as the incomes of which i keep. The assessment result says my character as the equity sensitivities which is an mirror image of my quality and idea. The job motivation potential is calculated depending on the factors of skills, task identity, task significance,Autonomy and Feedback.I like to work in a job where there is variety ,less contribution moderate autonomy and a constant feedback for my work. During my job as an call centre operator i used to have variety tasks to complete and my contribution would be less for the company and used to get a constant feedback for every call I talk. Do I want an Enriched job? Everyone like to have a enriched job. â€Å"job enrichment strategies may not have the same effects in more collectivistic cultures than they do in individualistic cultures† (Robbins and Judge, 2009: 237).The result shows that i like have a job with innovation, security, friendly employees and my ability to excel. It would be wonderful thing to summarise my essay in few lines. With the help of this essay it was able for me to know my personality and motivation. My personality is an emotional stability one with a less creative knowledge and stress based and have ambiguity quality and need to reduce this. On for the ones that motivates me are the during my job is the good pay for the job ,friendly environment, power to do, security in the job, mindset of the people, aim oriented and the attitude towards the achievement and the level of confidence in achieving the goal.

Gates of Fire Book Report

Gates Of Fire Book Report Title: Gates Of Fire LCpl Yaccarine A. Jared Author: Steven Pressfield Publisher: Turtleback Books Published: 1999 This book is about the Spartans warrior culture and how it ties into the Marine Corps values, and the present day warrior culture of our Marine Corps. My opinion on this book is that it is a great and interesting read that captures the attention of the reader and ties in ideally to our Marine Corps values. It depicts perfectly on what it is to be a warrior whether it is past, present, or future.I think that every Marine should read this book or at least look into the history of the Spartans and their dedication to their way of life and culture of war fighting. I strongly believe the book should remain on the Commandants reading list. Introduction: My book report is on â€Å"Gates of Fire† by Steven Pressfield. He was a prior Marine leaving the Marine Corps in 1966, he was inspired to write this book based of the resemblance he saw with th e Marines he served with and the ones he met presently and the warrior culture of the Spartans. His book has been taught in multiple places of military significance including the Marine Corps Basic School at Quantico, and it is added to the curriculum of the Naval War College. The book itself is about the legendary battle of Thermopylae and the three hundred Spartans who fought that battle knowing that the outcome was certain death. When reading the book you can clearly tell the levels of Honor, Courage, and Commitment these men had, and how they were willing to sacrifice everything for their homeland. After reading this book readers will clearly see how the author found the link between the Spartans, and the Marine Corps. Body: The book starts off describing the very basics of the Spartan culture, what makes them Spartans, how they are made, and the trials they had to face to earn their place amongst the other Spartans. When Spartans are born from the day of birth they are inspected, the ones who seem weak or unfit are killed to preserve the warrior culture. From a early age the children are taken away from their parents and put through a series of trials, one of which is to kill a slave. At a young age the children are already forced to kill, steal, and survive in a merciless environment that in the future will give them the mental fortitude to be amongst the greatest warriors known to history. At the age of eighteen they are thrown into the wilderness to fend for themselves, with nothing but will they must do this, and if they can make it back to their society they will be official Spartans. The main character of the book King Leonidas is the one who ultimately decides to take his warriors to the Gates of Fire to delay the Persian army of King Xerxes as long as possible. He selects three hundred of his finest Spartans and departs knowing very well that they will not return. This is where the Spartan culture ties into that of the Marine Corps, King Leonidas and his men had the courage to go face overwhelming odds knowing that the chances of survival were slim if even there. Given opportunities of surrender or retreat the Spartans denied them choosing rather to die and give Sparta as much time as possible then to save their own lives. This can relate to the present Marine Corps in many ways, it is well known that the Marine Corps fights and wins battles, and that we do not surrender we win or we die that is what is expected of us. Just as the Spartans did in ancient Greece we have upheld those basics of a warrior culture even when others have not, and that sets us apart from other services, because we live by those values. Sometime during the battle King Xerxes seeing the prowess of the Spartans, and their ability for war sought to make a truce with King Leonidas.Promising wealth, and success Xerxes attempted to bribe Leonidas to join him telling him he could have it all if he would simply kneel before him. Leonidas quickly refused the offer , of power and told Xerxes that they will continue to fight. Outraged by this Xerxes sent wave after wave of his men into the Spartan formation. Leonidas had honor in his actions, doing the right thing, overlooking personal gain, and staying faithful to Sparta and his men. With the Marine Corps value of honor, we as Marines also do these things. With espirit de corps, and a unswerving loyalty to our country we have always been looked upon to do the right thing even when others will not. Even our motto Semper Fidelis is our promise to upkeep that honor. In the end of the book the Spartans end up being surrounded, their flanks taken and completely out numbered Xerxes asks Leonidas one last time if he will kneel. In one last act of defiance Leonidas and his men make a final stand and a attempt on Xerxes life fully well knowing that there was no escaping a certain death.Their commitment to their cause was unwavering believing fully in what they fought for they were committed to the point of willfully giving up their lives for their cause and they did so with pride. This one final act ties into how the Marine Corps is very much like the Spartans of old as the showed that final value that is used by our own warrior culture daily. Marines signing a contract many of them giving up four years if not more of their life fully committed to something they believe in. With many others giving up their lives for a cause that they truly believe in.Conclusion: Overall I think this book was great, it showed a clear link on our warrior culture, and the warrior culture of the Spartans. It showed that our Corps values are the values of a warrior culture and it was shown through one of the most infamous warrior cultures in history. It not only was a entertaining read but it taught valuable lessons, and gave a understanding of what it means to be a warrior and what is expected of warriors, and like the Spartans the Marine Corps using those values as a base will allow our actions to ec ho through out eternity. History of Radio in New Zealand Essay

Radio started in 1921 when a man named Robert Jake, from Otago University made the very first broadcast in New Zealand. Robert first broadcasted from Dunedin to Christchurch, but within 10 years of the first broadcast it went from a novelty item to an every day event. He even broadcasted the arrival of Jean Batten in New Zealand after her solo flight over the Atlantic Ocean. In the 1930’s a Reverent Colin Scriminger, began to broadcast on the wireless. This man also questioned government policies on air and this scared the politicians a bit. Professor James Shelley was the Director of Broadcasting for this period of time and as he came from a high cultured background, he wanted the radio to broadcast high cultured thing such as ‘worthy talks on worthy subjects’. The year of 1936 saw a woman radio announcer take the microphone. Aunt Daisy was her name and she had a morning time slot from 9 – 10am. This was the time that the ‘housewives’ were at home and listening to the radio, so Aunt Daisy would give house hold tips about, cooking, cleaning and the general running of the woman’s side of the household. Aunt Daisy did this show for 27 years. When the government elections of 1945 came along, the government jammed Scriminger’s radio station -1 ZB -. The government took this action because of worries over what Scriminger was going to say about politicians or the government. During the 1940’s the BBC started broadcasting on New Zealand radio. Up until now the only news bulletins that had been allowed, to be aired were the ones that were OKed by the Prime Minister, Michael Joseph Savage. The BBC told every detail of news and to the people of New Zealand it was frightening to hear all the casualties of the war that was going on. The 1950’s and 60’s, the radio was used by the government to broadcast national propaganda. It was also the start of the Rock ‘N’ Roll era and it was nothing like any of the music before this time. The music produced at this time had a lot to do with the war that was going on in Vietnam as well. The television was bought out in 1960 and brought with it a stand-alone news service which radio could also use for news broadcasting. Radio piracy started in the late 1960’s by a station called radio Hauraki. They did pirated broadcasts because they did not want to obey the radio broadcasting rules that were in place, at this time in history. The morning report on National Radio started in 1975, and this was to take place instead of having a national newspaper for New Zealand. Over the years radio has had many more advantages such as being able to report things faster than television when they happen and recording live while out reporting. Talkback has also changed radio by letting people have their say and not just listening to the announcers opinions on certain topics. With radio you don’t have to sit in one place for a whole hour while you listen to the news but can move freely and visualise it for yourself while the announcer tells you what is going on in the country/world. I think this is the main reason why radio has survived over 80 years in New Zealand, and will continue to change and develop over another 80 years.

Read articals and answer in discussion Assignment

Read articals and answer in discussion - Assignment Example Information Systems have the capacity to distinguish the performance of an organization from another. There are areas of information technology that have not been explored and fully exhausted. For example, the area of data mining, artificial intelligence and robotics, decision support system and system automation. In the dynamic business world, there are newly emerging needs of information technology that continues to raise the new needs of information System solutions. For example, the present business world requires real time systems such as mobile applications. The demand for new data communication methodologies is continuously rising and their efficiencies place organizations in different ranks (Dychà © 10). The third rule for IT management is right. IT managers should place more emphasis on the vulnerability as opposed to the opportunities that it offers. There reason for this is that IT already has a guarantee of opportunities, so there is no need of wasting efforts searching for them. Secondly, Information Technology faces unpredictable threats that can be extremely costly. IT systems should be able to take care of information within an organization and guard them from external malicious attacks. There is especially an emerging trend of cyber crime threat against Information System Solutions. This is what should worry an organization. In fact, for as long as the system is exposed to vulnerability, even the opportunities do not serve any purpose to the organization. Information Systems Risk management is an essential function that an organization cannot do without unless it is planning to remain at risk of attacks. The management of an organization must therefore have a method of iden tifying possible risks, their causes and possible controls to put in place to regulate the exposure of sensitive data to external entities. There should be a continuous review of the risks to identify the most critical dangers that the

Assignment - Essay Example that includes export control, protectionism, strategic trade policy incorporating foreign direct investment (FDI), capital controls, and regulation, antitrust, and competition policy. There are groups of small businesses that require political protection. These also require economic laws to be protected especially from the competition of foreign projects such as Saudization. It is defined as goods imported from abroad. It leads to abandoning local goods. There are several methods that can be used to protect these businesses and include import tariffs. This is a tax imposed by the government on goods imported from abroad. Whether service or commodity, quotas that are importing goods must follow certain laws. Tax cuts to local businesses are taxes taken from a local business. This is done directly by a state. Protectionism it is a kind of trade policy. In addition, the antitrust and competition policies are also used to protect the local economy for the small businesses in the country. The antitrust policy erases professional competition from large companies. Additionally, it promotes laws that prohibit monopolization, which affects the profit making capacity of th e smaller businesses in the area. This also helps in preventing large companies from growing to the point that they gain strong control of the market as compared to other companies. This can also be viewed as preventing one organization from controlling the entire market. The presumed anti- competitive behavior prices are too high. There are benefits to companies if they follow the antitrust laws such as the use of national resources in a professional manner and having a more localized growth, achievement of stability in prices for both output and employment. If the figures of imports were rising disproportionately to export figures, imports would be more than exports. It must be specified which goods can be exported to the outside. These laws protect the domestic economy of the country from the impact
